Ever since Gilmore Girls premiered -- 16 long080p Archives coffee-infused years ago -- fans have been locked in a seemingly eternal debate: which of Rory's boyfriends should she end up with?
Sure, there were a few disposable Tristans and Martys along the way, but it all comes down to three enduring camps: Team Dean (Jared Padalecki), Team Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Team Logan (Matt Czuchry).
Netflix's long-awaited revival,Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, may definitively answer that question once and for all, but in the meantime, Mashableattempted to solve this puzzle with cold, hard stats.
We consulted relationship experts from dating sites Match.com and PlentyOfFish.com to see whether there were any indicators that could signal which of Rory's fellas might be her perfect partner.

"Since we know all of Rory's exes will be back on the show, we have to consider them all equally -- including how their lives may have changed in the years since we've seen them last," Moffit tells Mashable.
"Let's start with Dean Forester: Dean was a 'first love' for Rory but ultimately had a small town kind of mentality -- we know he was never really able to connect with Rory on an intellectual or academic level (and her driven, brainy side is why she's so endearing). We definitely wouldn't want her to lose that side of herself and put her relationship before herself (because we all know that never works out well). So in my opinion, Dean is out. By now, there's a good chance he could be a stay-at-home dad or even single small-town guy, but his limited life experiences will never be enough for Rory, who has now had many worldly experiences.
Logan Huntzberger: Although Logan and Rory's relationship was cherished by viewers, loving, and stable, the main issue I see with this relationship is that he wasn't head over heels enough for Rory to wait for her to be ready to get married -- his proposal gave Rory an ultimatum in a 'now or never' kind of way. To be honest, in my experience as a relationship therapist, any person who is not willing to wait a year for 'the one' is really not that in love.
The other factor we need to consider is that Rory may not have been as in love with Logan as she thought -- even though his proposal was a surprise, if he was 'the one' it would have been a pleasant surprise. I have literally neverseen a woman (or any person) turn down a proposal from the love of their life. Ever. It just doesn't happen, regardless of timing. So we as viewers need to question Rory's level of commitment to Logan himself and understand that if it wasn't there then, it likely never will be (no matter how cute, rich and adorable he is!) So in my opinion, Logan is out too.
Jess Mariano is my pick, if Rory ends up with anyone; quite frankly she could be totally happy living a vibrant single life for a while and travelling the world, and fostering her career. Or, she could meet someone new who fully appreciates her talents, charisma, and intellect (and has the time and energy to give their all to a relationship). Jess just might be her guy -- but to be honest, I think Rory will have to see major changes from him to actually consider him as a future beau.
SEE ALSO: Forget Jess: Dave Rygalski is the best 'Gilmore Girls' boyfriendDuring their relationship, Jess was sometimes distracted and afraid to get close. His family situation and overall 'bad boy' attitude did prevent him somewhat from being able to give Rory what would really be best for her. However, he was super smart, charismatic, and connected with Rory beyond their obvious physical chemistry. My hope is that by now, Jess will have cleaned up his act; he's now a working author and hopefully he's ready for a stable and long term relationship.
With all this being said, one of the beautiful things about Rory is that she really doesn't need a guy to make her happy. Any relationship that she chooses should be because it makes her life better, but by no means should she be in a rush to hurry up and choose someone. According to Match, 49% of Canadian singles say they're still friends with an ex, so even if Rory doesn't end up with Dean, Logan, or Jess, hopefully they'll still stay in each other’s lives as friends.”
That's definitely bad news for Team Dean fans, but there's still a glimmer of hope for Logan supporters -- PlentyOfFish's Shannon Smith makes the case for Mr. Hunzberger, using the dating site's data-driven approach:
"At PlentyOfFish, we use algorithms to help single people find their best match, and have a wealth of information from successful couples who met on the site to help us learn what backgrounds and personalities form lasting relationships. So armed with the above, we were able to make the strongest case for a successful partnership between Rory and Logan using some of the top indicators for lasting compatibility:
Similar ambition levels. Highly ambitious men find highly ambitious women most appealing and vice versa. We all know Rory has lofty goals, and last time we saw Logan he was off to California to “work for an internet company” and actively pursue his chosen career path.
Similar lifestyles. Whether or not Rory would like to admit it, her and Logan come from similar worlds of family money, and are on similar trajectories in life.
Similar education levels. Rory and Logan both went to Yale. Rory considers Logan to be one of the smartest people she knows, and intellect is something she values deeply. This is a very strong indicator of compatibility.
Similar interests. These two have a lot in common. The more niche the shared interest (ahem, writing for Yale’s newspaper), the stronger the likelihood of a lasting relationship.
That je ne sais quoi. Logan challenges Rory (in a good way) to break out of her comfort zone. No data backing this one up, but this sounds like a bonus!"
Both Smith and Moffit make valid points, but we'd be just as happy seeing Rory focusing on her career before she settles down. Whatever happens in Netflix's revival, we're Team Rory all the way.
