That undeniably odd sequence of images does indeed appear to show a cat poking its head through a conveniently cat-shaped hole in the ceiling, staring down at the humans below like some kind of benevolent feline god.
Let's go in for that all-important closeup:
21-year-old Emma Campbell from Scotland shared those photos on Twitter recently. Campbell told Mashable her friend's mum took them at an Animal Welfare League branch in Australia, and he gave her permission to share them.
"My friend's mum doesn't have any information about it, nor does the Animal Welfare League know much about the cat either," she said. "[...] They do know that the cat gets food and pets but that's all they know."
Campbell added that she isn't too sure if the cat actually lives in the ceiling, or if it was just visiting.
"I was told that they leave food up for the cat when they close up their shop each day but they're not really sure where it came from," she said. "So it might just come visit for food."
