Normal blizzard prep involves stockpiling candles,Watch Weekend Sexcapades (2014) water, and snacks, but many people also went in search of someone to hunker down with.
Dating app Hinge told us that yesterday in New York City they saw twice the amount of usual activity starting around 4 p.m. The surge was in advance of the massive winter storm -- dubbed "Stella" by the Weather Channel -- that was predicted to hit the city. A last minute search for blizzard buddies, no doubt.
SEE ALSO: Hinge's new captions can get you twice the likesEven though the storm fizzled out for the area, Hinge still saw 10 times the normal activity for a Tuesday morning today. Since schools were closed and transportation spotty, many New Yorkers were trapped at home. So it's clear that many singles spent their day bored and searching for love amidst the thundersleet.
It's not really a surprise that being stuck inside would lead to an uptick in searches. It also happened during the winter storm (dubbed "Juno" by the Weather Channel), which hit the city in late January. That caused a 27 percent spike the day before the storm, and a 47 percent increase the day of the storm.
Still, it's nice to know you're not the only one stuck at home swiping around for some snowbound snuggles.
