While the wearing of white roses was the way for artists to show solidarity with the #TimesUp movement at the Grammys021 Archives Lorde opted for words instead.
The New Zealand singer stitched an excerpt of artist Jenny Holzer's Inflammable Essayson the back of her dress instead of a white rose, which she posted on Instagram.

Holzer's work, penned between 1977 to 1982, were a series of 31 essays printed on colourful cards. The work's typeface resembled newspaper headlines, and the work sought to question the way truth is generated.
The excerpt Lorde wore on her dress, "Untitled (Rejoice!)", is a message certainly relevant in today's trying times.
"Rejoice! Our times are intolerable. Take courage, for the worst is the harbinger of the best. Only dire circumstance can precipitate the overthrow of oppressors," it reads.
"The old and corrupt must be laid to waste before the just can triumph."
