It may not be the most advanced MacBook spec-wise, but we consider the M2 MacBook Air the best MacBook for most people. The M2 chip is by no means weak, still powering you through having too many tabs open while remaining incredibly portable. At $799, this is the absolute lowest price we've ever seen this laptop by about $30, and the lowest price we've ever seen on any M2 machine. To put it into perspective: just one week ago, the lowest price you could find the M1 MacBook Air for was $699, putting only a $100 difference between the 2020 laptop and this 2022 model.

While the M2 MacBook Air is a great laptop, the M3 MacBook Air takes things to new heights. It has a 20% faster chip, upgraded WiFi 6E support, and the ability to support up to two 5K, 60Hz external displays at the same time (with the lid closed). From an outside perspective, it "may seem like a simple refresh," Mashable Tech Editor Kim Gedeon writes in her review, "but as someone who owns the M2 MacBook Air, I’d definitely trade it in for the new-generation model."
The base model (8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) has dropped to a record-low $849 for Prime Day with the help of an on-page coupon. That makes it a 23% price drop. The day before Prime Day, it hit its previous record-low of $898.99, for comparison purposes. If you want a larger screen, the 15-inch version is also on sale for a record-low $1,049.
