Carlile announced the surprise performance on Instagram just before arriving at the market.

Bystanders told the Seattle Timesthat the set lasted 15 to 20 minutes, and the two stars never formally introduced themselves to their last minute audience.
"I looked over and I was like: 'Oh my, that's Dave Grohl!" a passerby named Matt said in the Seattle Times.
Another named Dani said "neither of them spoke at all."
Fans couldn't believe how casual the entire encounter was.
