James Corden would like your forgiveness. Just a reminder that you don't have nabokov eroticism speak memoryto give it to him.
Despite the jokes that flitted through Stephen Colbert's opening monologue, Sean Spicer's unexpected appearance at the 2017 Emmy awards sparked a lot of backlash from folks critiquing Hollywood's acceptance of someone who was cool with some pretty revolting things.
So when James Corden was spotted giving Spicer a kiss on the cheek Sunday, in a widely circulated photo, Twitter erupted with disdain for the British The Late Late Showhost and he was forced to deliver an apology during his Monday night monologue.

"The big winners last night were Donald Glover, Hulu, and former White House press secretary Sean Spicer. Spicer won best actor in a comedy for his role in Donald Trump's administration," Corden joked, before getting serious and discussing Spicer's appearance at the post-award show parties.
"I just want to say, I think people are forgetting that this man lied to the American people and should not be embraced. These Hollywood phonies kissing up to Sean Spicer are disgusting," he said. "I mean, who would do this? Who are we talking about here?" he asked, before the above image flashed on the screen.
"Now, I know you think that’s a picture of me kissing Sean Spicer, but in the spirit of Sean Spicer, no it isn’t. I mean, anyone ever have that feeling when you get a little drunk and you wake up the next morning and you think, ‘oh god, who did I kiss last night?'" he joked. "It’s a bit like that.”
"To be fair, everyone was kissing ass at the Emmys—I just happened to kiss the biggest ass there," he continued. "Understandably, some people have been disappointed by this photo. I'm disappointed by this photo as well," he said, explaining that he hears all the comment made on Twitter. "Truly I do. So much so that I'm starting to regret that Carpool Karaoke that I taped with Steve Bannon."
Ha ha.
Since Sunday night, a lot of people have expressed disgust about the whole situation, calling out both Corden and variety of celebrities who also took photos with Spicer, for the normalization of the former press secretary.

The fact that he only made jokes about it instead of actually apologizing makes the whole things still feel a little gross. But it seems like he can live with it, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
