This Texas police department is Lewd Family [Uncut]handling traffic offenses a little differently this holiday season.
Instead of handing out citations, the Godley Police Department is issuing notes asking citizens to voluntarily bring an unwrapped toy to the station for a child in need. (That doesn't mean you can drive recklessly through the small town located near Dallas-Fort Worth -- only minor traffic offenses will be forgiven.)

The idea came from the city's new police chief, Jason Jordan, who took over the position in March, and is hoping to make the notes a new annual tradition.
"We've probably handed out a couple hundred," Jordan told Mashable of the charitable slips -- and it looks like the idea is really paying off.
Here is a photo of gifts so far supplied to the police department:
"We will stop handing [the notes] out in the next few days," Jordan said, noting that way, the gifts can make it to children in time for Christmas.
"I am also looking at getting something started for the next school year to help with clothing and supplies," he revealed.
Who would have thought a traffic stop could be the perfect way to get you into the holiday spirit?
