You can't really go wrong following any advice that genius legal badass Ruth Bader Ginsburg gives you. It turns out that’s especially true when it comes to love.
The Naked Poison IISupreme Court justice and feminist internet superhero Notorious RBG spoke recently at Stanford University, where she shared some advice that she’d been given by her mother-in-law on her wedding day:
"'In every good marriage,' she counseled, 'it helps sometimes to be a little deaf.' I have followed that advice assiduously, and not only at home through 56 years of a marital partnership nonpareil. I have employed it as well in every workplace, including the Supreme Court. When a thoughtless or unkind word is spoken, best tune out. Reacting in anger or annoyance will not advance one’s ability to persuade."
Wise words, indeed, for any relationship. We all have our careless moments and deserve a little patience and forgiveness. Ginsburg, whose husband died in 2010, speaks from a wealth of experience and has certainly gone far using this smart strategy.
That said, it's very hard to imagine it will work terribly well in helping anyone navigate the current administration.
