Listen,Bahamas I don't need to tell you that things aren't great right now. There are separated families in desperate need of help, mass shootings are a regular occurrence, and a U.S. Supreme Court justice is retiring, among other terrible things happening right now.
But we do have one (1) nice thing to discuss: The rescue of a little puppy named Toffee, who got stuck in a hole on Thursday.
SEE ALSO: Show your pup's personality with these easy style upgradesAccording to Alabama's WHNT, a team of rescuers managed to lift Toffee to safety early Saturday morning, after more than a day of trial-and-error attempts at reaching the pup.
According to an initial report from WHNT, the dog fell into a hole in its foster owner's backyard on Thursday evening. The owner says that because the hole was concealed under a pile of rocks, she was unaware that it existed. The Huntsville Fire & Rescue team pulled out all the stops, even affixing a camera to the end of a pipe and using it to keep track of Toffee.
Though the rescuers tried pretty much every strategy to retrieve the puppy, the news outlet reports that the Paint Rock Fire Department -- whose chief had seen the story on TV -- came through in the end with a snare that was used to lift Toffee from the hole.
"I still can't believe she's really out and she's right here and I'm holding her," she told WHNT.
May we, like Toffee, be lifted from the metaphorical holes we've been stuck in for the past two weeks.
