Apple's new iPhone 11 Pro and Dear Utol (2025): Maniac Photographer Episode 26the 11 Pro Max are both advertised for their significantly improved battery life, but Apple doesn't officially list the devices' battery capacity anywhere.
Now, thanks to an early teardown of the iPhone 11 Pro Max posted on China's Weibo social network (via TechRadar), we know the capacity of that phone's battery, and it is massive -- at least for Apple's standards.
The battery has 15.04Wh at 3.79V, which calculates to roughly 3,968mAh. That's a huge increase over last year's iPhone XS Max, which has a 3,174mAh battery. It's also on par with what most Android flagships have these days, which is a pretty big deal as Apple's iPhones typically trailed behind Androids by a hefty margin.
For comparison, last year's Samsung Galaxy S9+ has a 3,500mAh battery, roughly 10 percent more than the iPhone XS Max, while this year's Galaxy S10+ has a 4,100mAh battery, which is roughly 3 percent more than the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max are a little thicker and heavier than last year's comparable models, likely due to the increased battery capacity. Judging by reviews (including ours), the trade-off paid off, as the size differences are barely noticeable, while battery life is significantly better.
SEE ALSO: This is why the iPhone 11 doesn't have 5GUnfortunately, the teardown does not reveal how much RAM the iPhone 11 Pro Max has. Early reports indicated that it comes with 6GB of RAM, but certification documents that showed up later indicated that it has a far more modest 4GB. Notably, the same certification documents had the accurate battery capacity for the iPhone 11 Pro Max, so it's likely that the 4GB figure is accurate as well.
We'll likely find out more iPhone 11 secrets tomorrow, when the devices get into the hands of repair specialists of iFixit who typically do a very thorough teardown.
