Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.
We do not know when pre-orders for Switch 2 in the U.S. will open up now. We also don't know if this means a price hike or any other similar measures are coming. What we do know is that Trump announced severe tariffs on basically every country in the world on Wednesday afternoon, not long after Nintendo confirmed the April 9 pre-order date and the $450 starting price tag for Switch 2. Countries affected notably include Vietnam, which is where Nintendo moved much of its Switch production a few years ago in order to avoid tariffs on China.
We'll keep you posted when we find out more about when pre-orders will be available in the States, and what this might mean for the price of the console itself going forward.
