Some wild things happen in New Zealand,Black Magic Mask (2023) but a "mystery interventionist" has reached a whole new level of recklessness.
They've been putting vinyl stickers alongside artefacts and artworks at the Canterbury Museum since, emblazoned with comments relating to the specific exhibit.
SEE ALSO: Little kid pranks unsuspecting motorists stuck in trafficIt all started in late September, when the museum noticed the labelling of Egyptian mummy Tash Pen Khonsu, involving a rude comment about its face, according to Radio New Zealand.
Other comments include "WHERE DO I KNOW THAT GUY FROM" in front of a statue of Buddha, and a sticker encouraging visitors to "GO ON TOUCH IT," in relation to a crystal on display.
"A lot of things in museums look robust, but are actually quite sensitive so we took that one down straight away because we didn't want people touching it," the museum's deputy director Jennifer Storer told the station.
"We don't want this thing going on broadly, but we did think that if you're going to be a clever vandal that was relatively clever."
But it seems like the phantom labeller has come and gone, leaving a "RESPECT ANONYMITY" sticker over the weekend.
"At the same time our cameras caught him popping a note under our front door, in the middle of the night, saying thank you for keeping him anonymous and that he would not return," the museum's Facebook post read.
The things people do for kicks, hey.
